SASSA Decline Reason: 'Government Payroll Registered' — What It Means & How to Fix
SASSA found your ID number on a government payroll. Learn why this happens and how to prove you are no longer employed by the state.
What This Decline Reason Means
SASSA cross-checks your ID number against the Government Employees Pension Fund and government payroll databases. If your ID appears on any government payroll system — even if you left years ago — your SRD application will be declined.
Common Triggers
You previously worked for a government department and were never removed from the payroll
You were employed as a temporary educator, police reservist, or municipal worker
You are a former SANDF member with an active pension record
Your ID number was incorrectly linked to a government employee
How to Fix It
Contact your former employer
Ask the government department you worked for to provide written confirmation that you are no longer employed.
Appeal with proof
Submit your appeal with the confirmation letter. Explain that you are no longer a government employee.
Contact Government Pensions Administration
If the issue is with the pension fund, contact GEPF to confirm you are not receiving a government pension.
Appeal Deadline
90 days from the date of decline
Success Rate
Good if you provide a formal letter from the government department confirming you are no longer employed.
