How This Payment Method Works

Cash Send at Pick n Pay lets you collect your SASSA grant in cash at any Pick n Pay store. Like other retail collection methods, SASSA sends you an SMS with a collection code when your payment is ready. You take the code and your ID to the Pick n Pay money counter to receive your grant. Pick n Pay is one of the largest retail collection networks for SASSA grants in South Africa.

How It Works

  • SASSA loads your grant as a cash send to Pick n Pay

  • You receive an SMS with a collection code

  • You go to the Pick n Pay money counter with your code and ID

  • Pick n Pay pays you the cash

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Pick n Pay stores offer SASSA cash send?

Most Pick n Pay stores with a money counter or till point can process SASSA cash send. If your store cannot, the cashier can direct you to the nearest one that can.

What if my collection code does not work?

Ask the cashier to re-check the code, confirm your status shows 'Paid', and that you are at the correct brand. If it still fails, contact SASSA on 0800 60 10 11.

Do I need to be paid first before the SMS arrives?

Yes. The collection SMS is only sent once your payment status is 'Paid'. If you see 'Approved' but no SMS, your payment batch has not run yet — check after the 15th.
