Every official SASSA website ends in .gov.za. Use the SRD Portal for Your R370 Grant

Sign in at srd.sassa.gov.za with your 13-digit ID number and the cellphone number you registered with SASSA. A one-time PIN (OTP) arrives by SMS and codes each login. On this portal you can apply, reapply, check whether your status is Approved, Pending or Declined, and change the bank account your grant is paid into. There is no trick to it - the OTP step is what keeps outsiders out of your grant.

Use the Services Portal for Permanent Grants

services.sassa.gov.za is where permanent grant applications happen - older persons, disability, child support, foster child, care dependency and the rest. You create an applicant profile with your ID and phone number, then apply for the grant, upload supporting documents and track progress. Approved permanent grants are also reviewed periodically, and the portal shows review status.

  • Keep scanned copies of your supporting documents - the portal asks you to upload them.
  • A permanent grant review does not cancel the grant - it rechecks that you still qualify.

Use the Appeals Portal to Challenge a Decline

If SASSA declines your SRD grant for a month, you can challenge it free of charge at srd-appeals.dsd.gov.za - the Independent Tribunal. You choose the declined month and the reason SASSA gave, explain your situation, upload supporting proof and note your reference number. Appeals must be lodged within 90 days of the decline. Successful appeals are paid the back pay for the declined month.

Register and Sign In Smoothly

The portals share one rhythm: your 13-digit ID plus your registered cellphone number, then an OTP by SMS. If the system says your details are not found, you are almost always on the wrong phone number - one from before a SIM swap or one you never registered. Update your cellphone number on the SRD portal first, then carry on. Passwords are case-sensitive, and each portal keeps its own login.

Spot Fake Sites and Fake Apps

Fake SASSA portals are the most common SASSA scam online. They look like the real thing, end in domains like .co.za or .com, and ask for banking PINs or card numbers while promising to 'unlock' or 'release' a payment. The real portals never ask for your banking PIN, card PIN or password, and the grant is never behind a fee. The SRD grant has no official smartphone app. When in doubt, open a trusted link from sassa.gov.za itself.

  • Type the portal address yourself instead of tapping links in SMS messages.

Is it free to use the official SASSA websites?

Yes. Applying, checking status, updating banking details and appealing are all free on the official portals. Anyone who charges you to 'process' these is scamming you.

Can I apply for permanent grants on the SRD portal?

No. Use services.sassa.gov.za for permanent grants and srd.sassa.gov.za for the SRD R370. The two systems are separate.
