70,000 SASSA Grants Suspended in 2026 Integrity Rollout – What You Need to Do
In a massive effort to clean up the social grant system, SASSA has launched the 2026 Integrity Rollout. While the goal is to eliminate fraud, the rollout has resulted in the suspension of over 70,000 social relief of distress grants in the first six weeks of the year.
Why Were Grants Suspended?
According to official briefings, the suspensions are primarily due to data mismatches identified during automated cross-checks with other government databases. The system now links your application directly with:
- Department of Home Affairs: To verify identity and citizenship status.
- SARS (Revenue Service): To check for undeclared income that exceeds the R624 threshold.
- PASA (Payments Association): To verify that bank accounts are active and registered in the applicant's name.
How to Check if You Are Affected
If you haven't received your February payment, your status might be 'Suspended' or 'Declined' due to 'Referred' status.
- Visit the official SRD portal.
- Check for messages such as "Identity Verification Failed" or "Alternative Income Source."
- If you believe this is an error, you must lodge an appeal immediately.
Resolving the Suspension
If your grant was suspended due to unverified banking details, you must log in to the portal and re-submit your banking information. Ensure the account is a personal account and not a business or friend's account.
