New SASSA Self-Service Portal 2026: Life Certification, Profile Updates & Grant Reviews Go Digital
SASSA has officially launched its 2026 Online Self-Service System, a major step toward digitising social grant administration. The portal allows beneficiaries to complete key tasks remotely, reducing the need for in-person office visits.
What the Portal Offers
- Life Certification — complete your annual verification online via facial recognition. No more queuing at SASSA offices.
- Profile Updates — change your address, contact details, and personal information.
- Grant Review Status — check when your next grant review is due and see if any action is needed.
- Income Declaration — update your financial situation if it changes.
How to Access the Portal
Visit www.sassa.gov.za and click on 'Self-Service Portal'. You will need:
- Your 13-digit SA ID number
- The cellphone number registered with SASSA
- A smartphone with a camera (for facial recognition)
If you don't have a smartphone, you can still complete life certification via the SASSA WhatsApp line (082 046 8553) or by visiting a SASSA office in person.
Why This Matters for Your Grant
Failing to complete life certification within 12 months will result in your grant being suspended. The new portal makes it easier to stay compliant, but you must remember to do it. See our complete life certification guide for step-by-step instructions.
Provincial Rollout
The portal is available nationwide, but beneficiaries in Gauteng and Western Cape will have the smoothest experience due to better internet infrastructure. In rural areas of Eastern Cape and Limpopo, SASSA mobile units will continue to offer in-person assistance during the transition.
