How to Get Your Free Black Card

1. Go to any Postbank service point located inside:

   • Shoprite
   • Checkers
   • Usave
   • Pick n Pay
   • Boxer
   • Spar

2. Bring your valid South African ID (smart ID card or green ID book). A temporary ID is also accepted.

3. Find your nearest site by dialing *120*355* on any cellphone - free of charge.

4. The replacement is FREE. If anyone demands payment, it is a scam.

What Happens Now That the Deadline Has Passed

Since 31 August 2026:

• Your SASSA Gold Card no longer works at ATMs or retail points
• Your grant is still deposited into the same Postbank account - the money is safe
• You can still get a free Black Card at any Postbank service point, today included
• Your balance and banking details carry over to the Black Card - nothing resets

Will my grant payments stop if I haven't migrated?

No. Your grant is still paid into your Postbank account. But a blocked Gold Card cannot access the money, so you need the Black Card. The free replacement takes a few minutes at a service point, and your balance moves across.

Do I need to change my banking details?

No. The Postbank Black Card is linked to the same account as your SASSA Gold Card. Your banking details with SASSA do not change.

Someone charged me for a replacement card. Is that a scam?
